Living, Loving and Laughing
with Maine Coons

Welcome to Housemaines Cattery. We are located in Alberta, Canada (near Edmonton). In 1973 I saw my first picture of a Maine Coon and thought it was the most perfect cat that I had ever seen, and I vowed that one day I would have one. Fast forward to 1999 when I went to my first cat show in Cloverdale, B.C. In real life the Maine Coons lived up to all of my hopes and expectations.

We started showing and breeding Maine Coons in 2000, took a break from 2009 to 2018, and are back at it again. Our cattery is registered with both internal associations: The International Cat Association (TICA) and the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), although all of our showing to date has been with TICA in and around the Pacific Northwest and Prairie regions.

Our cats are important members of our family. The boys have the run of the downstairs and the girls and the neuters live upstairs. We have a separate nursery for newborn kittens where they live with just their mom until they have had their first set of shots, then they come out and about to create chaos around the house and play with the dog.

All of our breeding cats have been genetically tested and have negative results for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), and PK Def (pyruvate kinase defficiency). They have also all had echocardiograms to ensure they are free of HCM.
